I have a huge portion of my hard drive dedicated to just Dan Seagrave's artwork for various bands. His originals are pretty much 1000% better than anything you've seen on the album covers, since the quality gets completely raped. If my band ever makes it, I'm paying him no matter the cost!

i wonder what type of material he uses for his art...
photoshop, regular airbrush or paint or wathever? i couldnt find it on the website

I say just keep that font and everything. Just the man holding on to the L's needs to go. Im not saying anything bad about the current logo, just I can't see it on an album cover in it's present form with the man.
Threw this together real quick in paint. You get the idea though.
XCKYMetalheadX
Jun 15 2008, 12:42 AM
I still think the man drowning in blood/holding the L's is a great idea for a logo, and the most creative submission he received. the rest were just rehashed stereotypical death metal logos that had no sense of creativity, or took the fact that the bands name had the word WORLD in it WAY too much to heart. The current logo Deron picked makes a great shirt, as for how it would look on an album cover, they better rethink that.

Jun 15 2008, 05:45 AM
I think they should use something similar, but get someone who can do some badass computer graphics. Like maybe the shore of a beach and the water is blood with some dude trying to crawl out of it...make it all dark like almost a silhouette without a lot of detail on the face or anything.
Ryan
Jun 15 2008, 07:36 AM
when deron posted the blog about taking in submissions for the logo he said that the logo chosen (the one on the shirt) would only be used for shirts

I was never fussed on the WUB logo since the day I saw it. It looks too cheesy in my opinion. I think they should have something with depth, Something meaningful but dark.

I remember Deron saying quite a while back that he tried using Foreign Objects-styled vocals while recording "Dead and Still in Pain", but it didn't fit the song very well. I never really understood what he was talking about--I don't see much of a difference between the vocal styling of Foreign Objects and World Under blood (as far as growls go).

Jun 18 2008, 12:41 AM
well if you look at TUNAC, they are significantly less harsh... more like a yell that wants to be death metal vocals. maybe he was going for that
Ryan
Jun 18 2008, 03:41 AM
yeah id say that too, foreign objects has more of a yell and WUB has the scream. but i noticed that the scream through each of the WUB songs has progressively changed too, with UTAL sounding harsher than DASIP
Winds Of Creation
Jun 18 2008, 09:05 AM
I'd say it's just because his vocal abilities have progressed more than anything.
Grant
Jun 18 2008, 11:22 AM
Maybe he wanted to scream/yell all the way through the song but chose to have some melodic vocals in it as well.
AllP0werToSlaves
Jun 19 2008, 11:59 AM
Deron's FO vocals are a direct tip of the hat to Patrick Mameli from "Spheres" era Pestilence. Not brutal at all, but still death metal vocals. His recent approach on the new WUB tracks is definitely more Brett Hoffman oriented. Deeper breaths, larger screams and an overall aggressive tone that makes the listener feel like they are in the middle of a war.

^^Yes, definitely. I remember Deron saying in a chat as well that the vocals for UCS were based on Brett Hoffman's style.
