'Within hours of addressing the GTA series' past, Take-Two looked to its future. This afternoon, Rockstar sent out an e-mail blast centering on a black, monolithic Roman numeral "IV." It announced that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto IV will unspool in exactly four weeks on March 29. Since all GTA games from Grand Theft Auto III on have used the in-game engine for cinematics, it is likely that the trailer will contain the first glimpse of the game in action. GTAIV will use the RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) previously seen in Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis. '

zomg ru srs??? An announcement trailer for a game we already knew was coming out? How could you not be excited???

But seriously I'm pretty excited for the next Gta. I just hope I don't have to hear a shitload of hype between now and when it's released.

If you had a brain, you'd remember the cut-scenes from the past games arn't cinematic, this trailer will show us which year the game is set, hopefully character, style, graphics and so on.
Sharrock
You're about 2 days late with this buddy
Mr_Myers
Most likely but i'm excited to see what they've got instore for everyone, they always keep quiet on information about the next GTA and they only start releasing information close to the release. I remember the article's gamespot did every week for GTA:SA about the new features.
Corporate_Nothing
I'm pretty excited about this. (!) I went crazy for GTA: San Andreas pre-release stuff when info first came out. I can't see myself getting that hyped over GTA this time around, but either way, I can't wait for this trailer.
CKY Josh
I always get excited when new GTA's come out. I mean they do come out like every 2 years or something like that, Maybe even longer.

this was my [indirect] point.
billy bal
I just hope its stays within America. I really dont want to play a GTA:Japan or something.
Kenny
I hear it might be in London.
Sharrock
I hope its in america too. I've heard it'll be an Atlanta-type place

Tokyo would probably kick ass.

seriously.

London could be cool also.

Miami (again, only better) could be pretty nice.
Mr_Myers
Although I live in England, London would be a bad idea, save that for The Getaway games, keep GTA in America.
JohnnyWikked
Agreed. As an Australian, I'd much rather the GTA games stayed in American based cities.

Wasn't Vice City kind of Miami?

They already did london. Pick up the GTA director's cut for PS1.

vice city = miami vice = completely modeled after miami.
christopher_walken
flinttown! michigan. that would be sweet and true to life.

I just really loved vice city. So I wouldn't mind if they did Miami again and just improved on the old map.
Fonzie
I hope this next city has more realistic features other than rain. I think snow would be a cool feature.
sachishi4
use snowballs as weapons
CKY Josh
That'd be kinda cool, just whipping snow balls at people, and cars.
Kenny
Snowballs? Ever play Bully?
Justin890
I could see Toronto. I mean, a lot of the big cities were used.

GTA 3 = NY
GTA VC = Miami
GTA SA = Vegas, San Francisco, LA

Whats left? Chicgao?

Im calling Tokyo or Toronto. Though GTA Middle East would be funny.
Corporate_Nothing
Damn... I don't know. The options are infinite, literally. I won't make any predictions other than that it will definitely be bigger than one city.
Andrew
Philly? that'd be badass.
Corporate_Nothing
LOL. I just pictured GTA4 with CKY Crew cameos when you said that.
CKY Josh
Philly would be sweet. Toronto wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Zaphran
I wouldn't mind a city the size of Liberty City if it had alot more stuff to do in it.

And more open buildings.
Master Of Puppets 62
tokyo would be awesome.
they'll probably do london or something.

philly is too small.
if they did like northeast cities thatd be cool though.
Travis

Definitely more open buildings.

And there needs to be another mission like the one in san andreas that you do for the FBI agent, where you have to ride the motorcycle on the airstrip into the airplane that's taking off. Then you have to kill everyone inside, plant a bomb, and parachute out. By far the best mission in any gta ever.
Andrew
philly isn't necessarily if you count ALL of philly, not just Center City.

hell, have a bridge going into Camden.
Justin890
I definataly want more places to skydive. And I don't want to lose my parachute after every jump. This probably will mean that Im going to have to upgrade to ps3 to play it. Hell, my ps2 has been NYC for over a year, and Im just now missing it.
Mr_Myers
Why pay so much for a PS3 when you can just get the 360 core version, getting a 360 was a great choice for me, I never knew i'd play it this much.

Liberty City was only 3 or 4 square miles, fuck that shit.
San Andreas was 17 square miles, and IV should be even bigger.

(I found this by sheer luck)

IGN.com hinted that GTA 4 may be a MMO type game. I personally think that a GTA MMO could be a cool thing in the future but not with GTA 4.
dietrying_
i really liked the backcountries in san andreas so i hope they can do the same thing with this game. more little mini-game sort of deals would be cool too.
Mr_Myers
A week and 5 days till the trailer, i'm pumped for it.
Ferguson
i think they should do GTA: europe. like paris, amsterdam, UK, germany. thatd be fucking awesome.
Mr_Myers
Or just have 2 seperate countries(not complete countries but states and such), it'd make the plane trips worth while, fo'sho.
billy bal
Interesting.

Lost Rockstar Games Interview Reveals Answers
1:10 PST
All week long, I have been working on an article that uncovers the answers to a list of burning questions that people would like to ask Rockstar Games about the company as well as Grand Theft Auto IV.

The article uses a lost interview from an issue of Game Informer magazine to answer key questions. The interview goes against the normal secrecy policies that the company employs on a daily basis. The article title The Second Leap refers to the process of improving upon past GTA games in the upcoming GTA4. The first leap was the process of going from GTA2 to GTA III. Here is a snippet:

Next, we get a hint. This is where we get a statement that almost completely confirms that an online experience is how the leap will take place with, hopefully, success:

The Transition from GTA2 to GTA III

Quote:
"Like the way that from 2D to 3D was a magnificent jump, I think the same is true when we do that jump into online. How we do it, when we do it, and what it is that we do...those are the question marks," said Houser.

Maybe he doesn't realize that he won't just materialize in front of the police station with his health restored, some of his money gone, and his weapons confiscated.
MNHHNGBFS
that always happens to me when i get caught murdering people and blowing up cars.

i've been told that GTA 4 is gonna be detroit
but i highly doubt that
even though there was tons and tons of rockstar games shit all over the downtown area for the longest time

wouldn't it be sweet if you could like jack a plane and fly to a completely different area? like a completely different map (i know you can fly planes.... it'd be cool to go from liberty city to san andreas in a plane though)

Oh the amount of crack heads running across streets would be HUGE (I've seen 'em!).
CKY Josh
They should try Boston as an area. The could use the huge city of boston and then include like Cape Cod, and Maine. And they could use the towns outside of Boston as the backcountries. Just an idea.
