why grande prairie of all places? this better be an indication of other dates, like edmonton or something.

preferably they hit edmonton on a date where i don't have a final.

Yo cKy, Vancouver doesn't exist, don't come here.

Might make the trek though.
Google maps tells me it's a 14 hour drive. Sometimes I envy America because of how close your cities and states are.

like i said, i really doubt this a one off show. wouldn't make any sense to play a venue that hosts horse races in the middle of nowhere for no reason. gotta be more dates coming.

I've never gone to a Cky show, so I'm really going to try to get to this one. Really wish they would come to Vancouver though.. Last time they came here it just happened to be during the week that I wasn't in town.

I missed then in Calgary on the Carver City Tour, so I'm making the 12 hour trip from Medicine Hat.

Is this actually confirmed or what? I can't find a place to buy tickets, and when I went on the Evergreen Park website it didn't have anything scheduled for the 23rd.

no clue. outside of the alliance there seems to be no acknowledgment of the show even existing.

i still don't understand this show. makes zero sense. nobody plays grande prairie for a reason; because it fucking blows. for a band that supposedly has such trouble getting into the country, it seems so strange playing in such a random place.

-by the way, i'm not going to the show or anything, but if anybody's passing through edmonton and wants to stop and chill for a bit i'd be down for that.

Deron said to me on facebook that he didn't know anything about this show either. We really want to make the trip up but with no solid evidence of it's existence...kinda tough to make plans.

I think you should instead shoot a documentary about wild Canadian black bears (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Grande Prairie has a population of under 50,000 and the airport is a regional airport, not an international one. This show makes no sense. At all. None. They need to move the venue. To the Commodore. In Vancouver.

I really can't see cKy filling the Commodore, though it would be nice.
Bands like Finger Eleven are able to play the Commodore simply because they have that boring Canadian rock sound that appeals to the average rock radio fan. Meanwhile, the rest of Vancouver is busy watching indie bands at the Media and Railway Club. Unfortunately, cKy just doesn't have the following here. CFOX didn't even have the show in 2009 at Richards listed on their website, let alone a single mention of them on the radio... which is odd considering they jump on even the shittiest local bands who can bring out 50-100 people max.

(I didn't mean fly directly to Grand Prairie, could just be to Edmonton and back.)

But you guys are right, this entire thing just seems weird. This isn't a major Canadian city or anything. It's literally just a dumpy little town in the middle of nowhere in northern Alberta. I barely even knew about it, and I'm living in the province right beside it. Damion, I know you said it's set in stone, but the fact is there is no other info anywhere on the internet about it. Not on the venues website, (even the venue doesn't seem right from the very beginning, unless they are doing this as part of a festival, however there is NO mention of anything like that either) not on any ticket website, nothing. It just all seems strange for a gig that's only little over a month away.

cky have management. In fact they have had quite a few over the past few years.

The guy they have now seems cool, he certainly seems to be doing a lot to push the B-Sides record.

He's just assuming that its going to be either a venue or a booth (if its a festival type show) where you can buy tickets. He (more than likely) hadn't actually looked into it for you when he gave you that quick answer. Hope you guys get some solid answers. I had a similar problem like this 2 summers ago when they came to Florida, and unfortunately, none of the band knew (even the night before) the scheduled show if they were playing it or not, luckily they showed up, but the poor promotion (and the fact that the venue was involved in various legal matters at the time that made consumers wary) made for an exceptionally poor turnout.
