Pretty good band, I have None and Catch 33. I actually listened to some of Catch 33 today for the first time and it's pretty unique. It's weird how the songs tie together though.

Siccckkkk!! They're one of my favorite bands. I think DEI is their best album, but Catch Thirty-Three is awesome. The album was supposed to be one big track, but they had to split it up into little tracks; that's why the "songs" all tie together like that.

Theyre sound is pretty phat considering 8 string guitars and 6 string bass. I like a couple of their songs but they do sound pretty similar to each other

What if I said that Maynard said that 10,000 Days was inspired by this band?

Now does everyone like them?

I have Nothing, I, DEI, and Chaosphere. They're all equally awesome. It's crazy that they didn't need a touring bassist when they played Ozzfest because the 8 string guitars were so low.

UN WTF?

UN DISAGREEMENT.

I think the label wanted them to split up the song into tracks, but I'm not positive. Maybe it was a band decision, like Dream Theater's decision to split their song "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" into eight tracks so it's easier for people to navigate through it.

I had the unlucky priviledge to see them open for Tool before I had ever heard anything by them. It was by far the most dull performance I'd ever seen. Two note songs with little changes in the drums here and there. Bald guy standing in one place, screaming unintelligible shit for an hour.

I've since heard a few songs of theirs that don't dislike, but I still don't get the hype. I'd say seeing them live is not a good way make a first impression.

bump! they split catch 33 to make it easier to navigate. easily the most progressive band in the world at the moment. apart from influencing 10,000 days (i like tool but they're too pretentious at times) james hetfield said they were a huge influence on st. anger! still dont understand how meshuggah influenced two horrible albums...

I picked up destroy erase improve, the title is like like IDR, but its a real good album, the songs are a little shorter than on catch33 and they have really cool solos.

they had to split songs or it wouldn't count as an album, it's what volta had to do with frances the mute.

Who wouldn't it count as an album to? the labels or something? thats kinda weird, Fantomas did just fine with delirium. Either way, its nice being able to navigate through it easier.

Meshuggah: New album update

All the latest details on the follow-up to 'Catch 33'

This just in:

"Their 2005 album, the 47-minute one-song opus Catch Thirtythree, featured programed beats and repetitive rhythms, but Swedish metal mathematicians MESHUGGAH are bringing neither back for the as-yet-untitled follow-up, reports Revolver magazine in their upcoming issue. Instead, the MESHUGGAHnites are returning to the pummeling double-bass drums and angular riffage that defined their early material to sculpt what they say will be their most savage, eclectic offering yet. "We've got some fast, intense songs and hectic, heavy stuff that draws from all the things we've done in the past," says drummer Tomas Haake. "It's so great to actually be playing drums again."

The band members started writing this past August and currently have three tracks completed without vocals and parts in place for 10 more tunes. The goal is to finish by March, in time for a May release. To some extent, the tone of the music was motivated by the four months MESHUGGAH spent last year rerecording guitars for the Halloween rerelease of their 2002 album, Nothing. "It was great to revisit that super-heavy stuff," Haake told Revolver. "While we were doing it, we found new ways of playing guitar that give the music a really scary tone. That's going to make this record sound more brutal."

I'm listening to Catch 33 right now. I don't know whether I like this band or not. I dig their style, but they're very repetitive.

there are low bitrate rips on some public trackers and high quality rips on stmusic/what/waffles/libble. i'll post a link.

edit: had some problems uploading it cause it's larger than 100mb. anyway as an alternative http://www.mininova.org/tor/1127481 if you're satisfied with 160 kbps.

I'm quoting a year-old post here, but lol Ipecac is Patton's own label.
