Has anyone else played the Heavy Rain demo? Interesting to see the point-and-click Choose Your Own Adventure format adapted for this generation of consoles. I loved Indigo Prophecy, so I might pick this up when it comes out in a few weeks.

i loved the game and always did excellent, beat it twice, had all the weapons three times over, never had a problem. then came halloween, everything was shifted to black, and there are SEVERE choke points in the game when the WT is black. that, combined with all the fucking invaders made it more of an exercise in utter tedium than anything else.

we've analyzed the game over and over and over again... if they had an actual class system (dont be fooled, the classes have no meaning) and the damage wasnt so unforgiving.. id still have it. i know the game is hard, but the only REAL issue i had was passing the blue dragon in 1-4, and getting past the maneater. i chose an assassin in the beginning, and by world 3 i was wearing full plate with a shield and giant 1h sword. i couldnt steal anything, i couldnt pick locks, i couldnt deceive anyone or sneak up on enemies and actually 'assasinate' them. i could even cast spells. that whole aspect makes no fucking sense. they might as well give you a base player and let you assign soul points where you want in the beginning. other than that, no class has any ability to be a class, nor do they have an edge or downside vs any other class. what a waste of time!

i enjoyed the challenge, but then the developers event decision drove me away. it seriously lasted like a week and a half- and i traded it back at gamestop because who are they to impede me from playing at my own leisure? oh, i gota fuckin wait until they make the game normal again? fuck that noise.

but if there is a DS2 i will most likely play it just to know i can beat one of the hardest games around.

I beat it tonight. It's not a game for everyone but I do think everyone should play it. I've been reading around and there are so many different things that can happen depending on the things you do, there are so many different outcomes and endings, it's really amazing how different an experience one person can have than another.

Just one example:

When you're playing as Madison and go to the Doctor's house. If you drink the wine he will take you prisoner in his basement. You can escape but he can also kill you, completely removing Madison from the rest of the story. If you decline, you can snoop around his house and find some evidence that will lead you to the next area. But if you're like me, I made too much noise while snooping and he snook up behind me and hit me with a bat. I did escape though. But at any time you can just walk out of his house and avoid him all together. really incredible stuff.

Overall I really liked it, wasn't happy with the resolution of the story though.

QTEs are going to become a pain in the ass. GOW has a decent balance, but the Dantes Inferno demo was like QTE every 10 seconds.

They aren't really "QTE's". if you mess one of them up it's not game over, you don't have to re-do the whole thing, it branches off and it keeps going. if you mess up in certain areas it can change what happens in the story.

knowing this makes each one more intense than traditional QTE's. same thing with the dialogue system. i don't know if I've ever second guessed myself so much in a game, it really makes you think hard about shit. it's not bioware style either, sit at the screen looking at text making a good or evil choice. it's way more organic
