Question:
I figured you would get a kick outta this story.... The industry really is dead. http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=167714

asked by Syko Kyd on 12/28/2011

Answer:
yeah i saw that before, haha. pretty funny of the trivium guy to do that. either way, as shitty as the music industry gets, i gotta say im still glad to be a part of it, no matter how fucked up it gets. seriously. i might bitch and complain about it a lot because some days it really gets under my skin but the truth is, i still enjoy it to an extent. its beyond fucked right now and i kind of enjoy the challenge in a sick twisted way. and im really glad i got to be a part of it in its heyday. there was no better feeling going into best buy or something and seeing the big CKY displays on release day when you walk in. fuckin best feeling in the world. i wont lie, im going to miss record stores and records. i spent my allowance in record stores when i was a kid and i spent my measly paychecks in record stores when i was a teenager. it was fun. but dont take my bitching about it seriously, take it with a grain of salt. no matter how shitty music gets, im still happy to be involved in it. and im happy that there are still real motherfuckers out there playing good rock and roll that i can enjoy, even if nobody else knows about them.

jess what would you do if someone mailed you a dog turd?

Question:
I don't understand why people get so pissed off about a band protecting the music they worked so hard to create. It seems like people have gotten so used to getting music for free from pirating that they've grown accustomed to the idea of it being...free. Those people also seem to have forgotten that no matter which way you fucking look at it, it's still fucking stealing. It's the exact same mentality as walking into a Best Buy, snatching a CD, and running out the door without paying for it. What pisses me off the most though is when people label the bands "sell-outs" for speaking out about people stealing their shit. Sure Lars is a douche, but that's more because he's in a metal band that needs a band therapist. Is it just me, or have people completely lost the definition of what a "sell-out" actually is? I always thought of a sell-out band to be someone, like No Doubt for instance, who starts off in one kind of music genre and completely changes their genre strictly for profit. And usually they change the Genre to the most popular type of music at the time.

asked by Holetebetish on 02/04/2012

Answer:
thanks man. yeah, chad's rant on radio bam last month totally nailed it. most people are faking it anymore. it is very rare to find real motherfuckers these days. those hipster morons who yell sell-out every second on the internet suck too... "you dont work for free, you fucking sell-out!" its usually the same idiots who shit talk CKY and admit they have never heard 1 song by us before, its hilarious and sad at the same time. its kind of like these redneck dudes who always say "america is the best country on earth" hmm, okay. fair enough. so...have you ever been anywhere outside the states before? "nope!" then when you laugh they look at you like "what are you laughing at?"

Almost 12,000 questions answered. Is it fucked up that I probably read all if not most of them? Thanks for being real all these years. One day I think you should publish all of these into a book.

asked by Dan714 on 02/03/2012

Answer:
thanks for reading, real is all we know. sometimes you get too much reality with cky, but hey - thats how we like it. we aren't a mysterious band. we will describe to you in detail how we are feeling whether you like or not bub.

Question:
If Deron hate touring and you, jess, hate working in the studio then why the fuck did you choose to become musicians anyway???

asked by CampKillMyself on 02/03/2012

Answer:
i dont hate the studio, i just question the process of driving hours to get there, setting up drums, setting up microphones, hitting each drum for an hour getting it to sound really good, spending hours and hours recording it trying to get the best take, recording all the other instruments then vocals, then after weeks of working and driving you shell out a ton of money for the studio time, shell out a bunch more money for packaging and artwork, then it comes out and everyone gets it for free. sounds like an exercise in stupidity, right? i would rather just play shows and have a good time. making an album now is just a glorified promotional item. no thanks.

you answered whaa? on my asexual question. look up asexuality. it's the way to be! ;D

asked by someloser on 01/28/2012

Answer:
sounds like you are taking something thats really simple and making it complicated. if you want to have sex with someone, then do it. if you don't, then don't. you dont have to bring classifications into this. or even worse, something i have to google (aromantic asexual or whatever you said before) ...focus your attention on something more worthwhile.

Question:
So is ADIO as a company pretty much dead? What the heck happened? One minute (thanks to Bam and CKY) they were the biggest skate brand out there, the next minute they dropped all their riders, sponsors, and now the shoes are extremely generic looking and cheap and being sold at "Show Show" for $20 a pair.

asked by listen2cky on 01/26/2012

Answer:
It's called they got bought out by a huge company and then we left because I want to talk to jeff taylor and cool people and not some businessman asshole. Then the businessmen took the company and ruined it, just like they do with everything. Just look at the music industry.

Question:
you may have answered this before, but how can i financially benefit/support you guys the most? itunes for your music? distant website? your amazon? i guess the new merchandise website that was posted on your facebook got me thinking. i like knowing when i'm not sending my money to an x amount of middle men before the royalties finally reach your end. i know it doesn't REALLY matter cuz im aware that, as a fan, the best thing you can really do for a band is spread the word and attend their shows, but i still take pleasure in financially supporting bands, who i admire, in various ways

asked by Tha Hoff on 01/23/2012

Answer:
Thanks Hoff we appreciate that, the band makes the best royalty rate at www.cdbaby.com/artist/cky

answered by Jess on 01/25/2012

Question:
What do you think about this? http://www.digitalmusicnews.com/permalink/2011/111221airvinyl Megaupload claim they are developing a music site that allows artists to sell their music and keep 90% of the money made and they have a system in which artist can even be paid for free downloads. Maybe there can be a happy medium found between the new and the old systems and we can enjoy the best of both worlds. Digital music can allow musicians to be much more independent and a system allowing people to be fairly paid for hard work. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.

asked by liljesus666 on 01/24/2012

Answer:
Wow the plot thickens. If that is truly the case then I'm all for it and I take back what I said about baby Huey dotcom or whatever his name is. Something has to be done about it though soon I just read an article that less than 5 percent of people pay for music now. I realize most music is awful these days, but that is a fucking ridiculous percentage. This dude I know spends 400 bucks a week on pain pills but paying 99 cents for his favorite bands new single is just crazy talk as far as he's concerned. That kind of thinking these days is fucking gay. I hate it.

answered by Jess on 01/25/2012

Question:
Jess it's been a while since you've recommended any new bands.. I've come to the conclusion (for myself at least) I can't go wrong with what you've been listening to. From Clutch to Graveyard. The Sword.. Daniel Davies is incredible. Anyway.. is there any bands you've recently came across Jess. I like to know how you're going and all.. but selfishly I love to know the bands you're into, because most of the time I love them too! Thanks mate. (p.s soundwave update? deron isn't going?)

asked by JWikked on 01/25/2012

Answer:
I've been listening to the unkle matt records a lot lately, that guy cracks me the fuck up man. I realize I have a weird twisted sense of humor but his new songs opening line is "I get more pussy than tampax, ask me how I do it? I just pull some strings" now if you don't laugh at that then go to burger king and put on one of those cardboard kings crowns because you are officially the king of douchebags

answered by Jess on 01/25/2012

Question:
So I like going to bars with jukeboxes and playing song from Clutch, them crooked vulters, and turbonegro, that most people dont know, and just ruining there mood, but everyonce in a while i find a chick who likes this shit. does that make me a bad person.

asked by Jay on 01/24/2012

Answer:
If you want to have some fun with that go to a hick bar and play p funk or go to a rap club and play zz top. Go to a sports bar and cheer every time the other team scores and boo when the home team scores. Doesn't make you a bad person just means you don't give a shit, which has always been an admiral trait in my book. Fuck the losers who take themselves too seriously, they suck.

answered by Jess on 01/25/2012

Question:
Also Jess.. I can't believe you answered a question from 2007, crazy to think there are still Ask CKY questions from before Carver City came out!

Haha sometimes I just pick a year and answer it randomly, you never know, I might answer your question from 5 years ago. I'm a procrastinator sometimes.

answered by Jess on 01/25/2012

Question:
Pirate Bay has been sued probably countless times, but their defense is "none of the stolen files are actually stored on our site" which is true with torrents. I disagree with SOPA, but I believe bands / movie producers deserve to be paid for their work. Jess, has the DMCA (digital millennium copyright act) ever been of any use to CKY? I've heard plenty of arguments about SOPA that imply the DMCA is more than enough to combat piracy, if you have the patience to report it.

asked by JWikked on 01/23/2012

Answer:
Yeah at least the wheels are in motion, not sure which laws are going to be put in place but the arrest of "Francis" from pee wee's big adventure down in New Zealand hopefully will get some of these douchebags to think twice about setting up these sites designed to rip off musicians and line their own pockets with their gay ass ads. It's the same thing as hacking somebodies credit card info and buying something pretty much. I don't understand why it's gone on this long.

answered by Jess on 01/24/2012

Question:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-01-23/megaupload-founder-seeks-bail/3787986 megaupload guy is close to actually getting raped. but instead of raped by a rhino it'll be a big guy named rhino in jail... who will probably have rabies.

asked by sarahmelissa93 on 01/23/2012

Answer:
i'll bet you anything all those losers over at pirate bay and all those torrent sites have houses like that. stealing people's movies and music and selling banners for their benefit. fuck those guys, they suck. they are no different then the losers who print up the new jay-z album on cd-r's and sell bootleg copies on the street.

answered by Jess on 01/23/2012

Question:
Yo Jess, here are some SOPA facts you should DEFINITELY know about http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sE5WlyQRvaM&sns=em

asked by Alex on 01/19/2012

Answer:
i just read that the megaupload ceo was making over 100 million dollars a year selling adspace. taking money away from hard working bands and selling adspace for profit. what a fucking douchebag. i hope he gets raped in the woods by a pissed off rhino with rabies.

answered by Jess on 01/21/2012

Question:
Haha Jess looks like you and Axl Rose are kinda in agreement on rock radio http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/12/axl-rose-bemoans-the-state-of-la-radio.html And alsoi where the fuck is Dico!?

Question:
maybe you should research certain things before making your opinion public!

asked by sebu on 01/19/2012

Answer:
yeah, agreed. after reading about it there is so much red tape involved i made it 10 minutes into reading about it and realized what a piece of shit law it is. what a nightmare this has become. congress is involved what do you expect? haha those people can't agree on what fucking color the sky is.

answered by Jess on 01/19/2012

Question:
Thoughts on SOPA?

asked by Donald Hall on 01/18/2012

Answer:
im not sure if there is some hidden agenda behind it, i didn't research it much to be honest. but if its for helping people who make movies/records/books be able to earn their fair share again then i am all for it. im not sure when copyrighted material just suddenly became "free" but it sucks and im over it. making a 100 million dollar movie isn't free. it costs 100 fucking million dollars. why should it be available for free? why are people fighting that? its crippling people. there are record producers out there that i know that used to get 100,000 dollars to make an album and now they get like 5,000-10,000 dollars. barely enough to keep the studio up and running. so if this online piracy act is going to at least try to make things not suck again, than i say hooray!

answered by Jess on 01/18/2012

Question:
Been a BIG fan for years, though I have not been to a CKY show yet, when you coming to Seattle?

asked by Jbones on 01/15/2012

Answer:
its pretty crazy after touring pretty relentlessly since the late 90s that there are still "big fans for years" that still haven't seen us. there has to be some effort made on your parts guys haha we can't play every neighborhood bar on a saturday night. sometimes you have to cancel work the next day and drive a little bit to see a band. i used to do it all the time.

answered by Jess on 01/17/2012

Question:

Question:
Jess, your thoughts on the band Asking Alexandria.

asked by tanner on 01/01/2012

Answer:
my thoughts are that, im starting to sincerely and honestly realize that illegal downloading is not really to blame for the demise of rock and metal so much. thats just the tip of the iceberg really. rock and metal is gone and buried today because it is truly and sincerely fucking awful. like sooooo fucking bad. worse than my worse nightmares. honestly. the ratio is about 10,000-20,000 terrible shitty bands to 1 good band. what are we supposed to do with odds like that? fuck man.

answered by Jess on 01/02/2012
